MEET THE TEAM

Mark Jessop
Founder and Clinical Director
Hi, I’m Mark Jessop a Chiropractor with a lifelong passion for health and wellbeing.
My journey into this field began with a degree in Sports Science from Loughborough University, where I developed a strong foundation in understanding the human body, movement, and the science of performance and recovery. From there, I went on to complete a four-year Master’s degree in Chiropractic, qualifying in 2009.
In the early years of my career I believed that if I became really skilled at manual therapy and spinal manipulation, I could help everyone with back pain. And while manipulation is a powerful tool, experience soon taught me that it wasn’t a magic bullet. Some patients got better quickly, others didn’t—and the difference, I realised, often came down to what happened outside the treatment room.
I began to understand that real, long-term change wasn’t just about what I did to people, but what I could help them do for themselves. The patients who did best were those who made small, consistent changes to their habits, movement, and mindset. This insight reshaped the way I practise: I now see myself as more of a coach than a fixer—someone who guides, supports, and empowers people to take control of their own health.
That’s what led me to set up the Active Health and Wellbeing CIC. I wanted to create something beyond the traditional clinic—a community-focused organisation that gives people the knowledge, tools, and confidence to manage their musculoskeletal health and live well for longer.
I’m currently studying for accreditation in Lifestyle Medicine, which aligns with my belief in a holistic, evidence-based approach to health. Through this work, I hope to bridge the gap between clinical care and self-management, offering workshops, classes, and resources that support people in making sustainable changes to their health.
